The Feline Spirit, by Patricia Olson

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel,
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled.
For, you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand, asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined for all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is...forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat.
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them.
I just am...forever and ever and ever.

The Rainbow Bridge, author unknown

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. There, the old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring, and this one suddenly runs from the group! You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

Sweet Goldie, you will be missed dearly.  You were a wonderful old girl, who had gotten a second chance at youth in the last year of your life thanks to some wonderful vets and medications.  We will miss your quick, cranky "reow", but know you are happy in heaven with "grammy".

                Love, Jonathan

Thank you Goldie for letting me be close to you and trusting me after Mom had passed, giving me so much love and care, helping me through every hard time that came. You saw many a difficult time in both Mom's home and mine moving to the city being very hard. well  I am very glad this last year meds helped you with your arthritis making you feel better  to play easier and have fun. I will miss you so much, and as my tears fall I can hear your cry and feel your paw wisp my leg telling me not to cry. I know how it upset you, so I will pull back my tears and say again I will miss you. Go with Mom now, because I am sure she will be so happy to be with you again. Say hello to her for me. 'Til we meet again old sweet Babe, I will hold you close in my heart and memories.

                Love, Lisa Jo
